The Civil Council on Defense and Security (CCDS) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization which aims to contribute to democratic reforms in Georgia’s security and defense sector and support the country’s democratic transition and Euro-Atlantic integration.

With this aim in mind, CCDS

  • provides a public debate platform for civil society, government agencies and international stakeholders
  • facilitates civil society’s engagement in democratic oversight of Georgia’s defense/security sector
  • supports capacity-building of the government and professional communities in the area of nuclear security and WMD non-proliferation
  • raises the public’s awareness on security-related issues.

CCDS was launched in 2005 and officially registered in 2011.
